The Statue Challenge Countdown

Strike the trickiest pose possible and hold it perfectly still through a slow countdown.

Ages 7–1010–20 min1–4 kidsHousehold items

Strike a challenging, off-balance pose -- one leg up, arms twisted -- and hold it perfectly still through a slow ten-second countdown without wobbling. Take turns inventing the next tricky pose for the group to attempt.

How to do it

  1. 1Invent a challenging pose -- one leg lifted, arms crossed at an odd angle, balanced on toes.
  2. 2Hold it perfectly still while someone counts slowly from ten down to zero.
  3. 3Anyone who wobbles or moves is out for that round; everyone else tries a new pose.
  4. 4Take turns being the one who invents the next round's pose.

Variations

  • If ten seconds is too easy: stretch the countdown longer, or add a second pose switch halfway through.
  • How it ends: a final 'hardest pose of the day' vote gives the game a fun, shared close.

💡 Parent tip

Let them design a pose specifically to challenge the adult -- being the one setting the difficulty is often the most fun part of this game for a big kid.
