Arrange floor cushions in a loose circle, one fewer than the number of players. Dance, march, or spin around them while music plays, and grab any cushion the moment it stops. Whoever's left without one sits out that round, or just cheers on the next.
What you need
- floor cushions or pillows
- music
How to do it
- 1Arrange cushions in a circle, one fewer than the number of players, and start the music.
- 2Everyone moves around the circle — dancing, marching, spinning — until the music stops.
- 3"Grab any cushion the second the music stops — no cushion means you're out this round, or just watching and cheering."
- 4Remove one more cushion each round until only one or two players remain.
Variations
- If 'being out' feels too harsh: play a no-elimination version where everyone just scrambles for a spot every round, cushions never removed.
- How it ends: the final round with just two cushions and two players is a natural, exciting climax.
💡 Parent tip
Playing the no-elimination version keeps everyone engaged the whole time instead of watching from the sidelines.
What your child develops

- Turn-taking and losing gracefully — a classic party-game format that teaches this gently
- Rhythm and listening — moving in time with music builds auditory-motor coordination
Safety notes
- Clear breakable objects from the play area before starting.
