Buy or bake plain round biscuits. Supply icing and assorted toppings. Child decorates. No instructions, no template. Only the biscuit and the imagination. Eat the results.
What you need
- plain round biscuits
- icing sugar
- food colouring
- small toppings
How to do it
- 1Say: "These biscuits need decorating. No plan, no template—just whatever you want."
- 2Set toppings out in small bowls. Give each child three to five plain biscuits.
- 3No instructions. Say: decorate however you want — and mean it.
- 4Eat when done. Compliment the design, not just whether it tastes good.
Variations
- Korb-Tür: If they refuse: decorate one yourself first, plainly. "Now yours. Make it different."
- Ausstieg: Eat them. Comment on the design before the taste.
💡 Parent tip
Do not suggest what they should make. The child who puts all the sprinkles in one pile is following a completely coherent vision that doesn't need improving.
What your child develops
- Fine motor — applying icing neatly requires controlled hand movements
- Creative planning — deciding a design before applying irreversible icing
- Aesthetic judgment — making decisions about colour and composition
